1.  Learn to love yourself.  

This can be a hard one, but you have to put yourself first. You are worth it and the moment you realize this the process gets easier.  
I used to say that I would rather die fat and happy, but that is the funny thing… I wasn’t happy.  I had lost my self worth. When I was finally able to put my self first, the weight started to come off.  

2.  It is all about HEALTHY LIVING!

I had to change my lifestyle.  I couldn't continue to sit on the couch with my doritos.  I had to change.  This journey isn't about pounds lost but about truly living a healthy lifestyle.

3.  You need Balance in all things.

Every meal and “sub meal” was a balance of protein and carbohydrates, avoiding salty, sugary, overprocessed foods that our society is so addicted to.  Personally, I recommend measuring what you eat, it is the key to keeping honest and really doesn't take much time.  I also love the app My fitness pal because it helps you keep track of your progress.
 

4.  Cut out sugar.

I know-- THIS IS SO HARD!  Sugar is my happy place.  But is it really?  When I learned to cut out sugar I realized that I didn't need it to be happy. Did you know that in the early 1900s, the average american at 5-10 lbs of sugar a year and today we eat 150-200 lbs of sugar per person a year. Yikes! I not saying don’t have sugar ever… but it should be with great moderation.  
 

5.  Eat Regularly 

If you want to boost your metabolism, you need to keep the fire burning.  The worst thing for your metabolism is to starve it.  Yes you may lose weight, but it won’t last.  I recommend eating five to six times a day, each meal balanced.  This is what worked for me, but there are lots of great programs out there. 

6.  Get off the Couch. DO

Exercise doesn't have to be hard or take a lot of time.  I personally don't love to exercise, but you can do simple things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further from the grocery store so you have to walk farther or taking a walk around the block.  Increase your daily moment.  You can also find lots of great workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home on YouTube. 
 
So those are my six steps to healthy living and maintainable weightloss.  Not only did I lose 70 lbs this way, I feel better than I have in a long time. Changing your lifestyle helps you to have more energy and feel happier.
